April, The Month of Opening
‘In March, at the Equinox, the day and night experience a moment of symmetry and then brush past one another. With a graceful bow, the dark steps into the background and now light flings her doors open wide, summoning growth with her brilliance as the length of daylight begins to markedly exceed the length of dark. Come April, all life on Earth beckons the merry spirit of Spring with youthful expectancy’. ~ Herbal Rituals by Judith Berger
The word April is derived from the Latin verb ‘asperio’, which is to open.

Amygdala lives deep in the limbic system inside our brain. She controls our emotions, memory and mood. Amygdala is one of the first response centers encountered by scent travelling from our noses through the olfactory bulb and into the limbic system. The elements of heat, light, air and moisture activate the release of an essential oils volatile vapors. Scent bypasses our logical brain and is not involved in the process of smell. In other words, you actually feel scent.

New Offerings | Digestive Bitters Kits
‘Bitters stimulate all digestive secretions: saliva, acids, enzymes, hormones, bile, etc. Each of these act as a solvent to break down food for absorption. The quality and quantity of these fluids ensure proper nutrition. Inadequate production of these is common in processed diets’. ~ Jim McDonald
I have put together three blends that can be made with either alcohol or apple cider vinegar. Once the Bitters have been steeped and strained, they can be used in a number of ways: Add a few droppers full (or 1 teaspoon) to water, tea, mineral, or soda water; or a few drops under the tongue. Try adding a splash to your favorite cocktail!
Five Flavor Tonic: Organic: Lycii, schisandra, dandelion, peppermint, eleuthero, astragalus, nettle, gotu kola, licorice root, and stevia leaf. Provides adaptogens and nutrients, and supports digestion and liver function. 3.5oz bag $24.50 | enough for 2 pints of liquid extract.
Orange Cacao Bitters: Organic: orange peel, dandelion root, cacao nibs, and gentian root. Makes a great all-purpose bitter that supports normal digestion and is also quite handy as a bitter for mixed drinks. 3.25oz bag $19.95 | enough for 1 pint of liquid extract.
Spring Tonic Bitters: Organic: Calendula, dandelion leaf, lavender, lemon balm, mugwort, oatstraw, and parsley. Digestive bitters, tonic to the nervous system and chi energy, clears mucous and stagnation. 1.5oz bag $12.00 | enough for 2 pints of liquid extract.
General Infusing Instructions: Place herb blend (read individual package instructions for proper amount) into a pint sized jar with a tight fitting lid. Pour 100 proof vodka, or Apple Cider Vinegar to upper rim of jar. Cap tightly (if using vinegar, place a plastic liner between jar and lid), shake daily, and begin tasting after 2 weeks. Steep up to 4 weeks. Filter spent herbs out. Take one – two droppers full by mouth or add to water, tea, soda, or cocktail to taste.
Off The Shelf | Celtic Goddess Grimiore
by Annwyn Avalon ~ $18.95
Invoke the Enduring Power of the Celtic Feminine Divine
Welcome to the world of the Celtic feminine divine! Within these pages, you will meet great goddesses such as Brigid, the Morrigan, Sulis, Rhiannon, Rosmerta, and Elen of the Ways, as well as faery women like Melusine and Morgan Le Fae. Celtic Goddess Grimoire introduces you to goddesses of magic like Cerridwen, Arianrhod, and Blodeuwedd, as well as goddesses of justice, healing, and sovereignty. This book also explores the Ladies of the Lake, including the original Lake Lady from The Mabinogi. It shines a spotlight on the most prominent Celtic female divinities but also includes a section devoted to lesser-known goddesses of the Celtic world, such as the mysterious Nehalennia, who was nearly lost before her shrine was recovered from the depths of the North Sea.
A practical guide to working with these sacred beings, this book includes exercises for celebrating, honoring, and serving them. Author Annwyn Avalon provides chants, rituals, spells, and meditations. Learn how to build altars, craft charms, and actively invoke these Celtic goddesses so that they become a living, vital presence in your spiritual life. Annwyn also provides information about the meanings of the names of these sacred beings, their sacred symbols and creatures, as well as their personal powers, realms of strongest influence, and historical context.
