All things on earth point home in old October; sailors to sea, travellers to walls and fences, hunters to field and hollow and the long voice of the hounds, the lover to the love he has forsaken. ~ Thomas Wolfe

Ancho Pepper Powder | Mild Heat
Ancho Powder is dried and ground pablano pepper. The flavor can be described as mildly fruity, sweet, and a little smoky; and is considered the sweetest of all the dried chiles. Ancho powder is only mildly hot (between 1,000 to 1,500 on the Scoville scale) which makes it perfect for layering with other flavors. It’s very family-friendly. It can be paired with cumin, cinnamon and cilantro.
Ancho Powder is a good choice for those who are looking for a “milder” taste in their cooking. Sprinkle on pasta, baked potatoes, vegetables, soups, pizza, popcorn and more. Also try it to season chicken, stews, potatoes, vegetables and, of course, Mexican dishes.
Ancho Powder features in The Cottage spice blend ‘Sweet & Spicy‘. So good sprinkled on roasted sweet potatoes or avocado toast.
Classic Chili Powder Base Blend
Chili powder’s job is to provide the base flavor, aroma, and color depth to Mexican and Southwest cooking. Your level of heat preference is then added to this through the use of other fresh or dried chili peppers and spices. Start with 1 -2 tablespoons per pound of protein.
